About us
The main purpose of the Centre of Applied Archaeology is to connect practice with the theoretical and methodological part of student education at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels to achieve greater competitiveness in the labor market. The Centre of Applied Archaeology is involved in the protection, documentation, and rescue of movable and immovable archaeological monuments throughout the Czech Republic. The main task of the specialized centre at the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of Art is to carry out investigative, preliminary, and rescue research, architectural-historical surveys, consulting, documentation, and description of artifacts dating from the prehistoric periods to the 20th century. We carry out archaeological research in urban and rural environments, fortified settlements as well as in the open landscape. We present the results of our activities to experts and the wider public and contribute to society-wide collaboration to protect cultural heritage.
