PROJECT ANNOTATION:
The aim of the project "Archaeology of dark heritage. Nazi and Communist Camps on the Border of Bavaria and Bohemia" is a presentation of the dark cultural heritage of individual Nazi and Communist camps located on the border of Bavaria and Bohemia. The project is based on the cooperation of the Technical University in Deggendorf, which has been working for a long time on non-invasive technologies for remote exploration of the earth's surface and subsurface structures, with the Department of Archeology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, which is the only Czech specialized workplace focused on archaeological research of the dark heritage of the 20th century. century. As part of the project, neglected monuments will be documented and presented, which are selected branch camps of the central Flossenbürg concentration camp and
communist camps in Jáchymov region. The most valuable output of the project will be the detailed documentation of these neglected monuments of the 20th century, which will be the basis for modern forms of presentation and raising awareness of the cultural heritage of the region.
